To study well you should have a big vision, my vision when I was in high school was to enter engineering faculty and my vision became bigger and harder when I got only 90% in grade 11, so my duty was harder for me when I saw that I only got 90% in grade 11 but that was a great motivation to get 97% in grade 12, so here comes the motivation, you should have a big vision to motivate you to get what you want from this life, and since there is no motivation you won't do your things right.

Also another motivation that I was motivated towards it, that I liked to tell my kids that I am an engineer rather than anything else, so this also was a great motivation for me to make a better ending.

Now that you are not an engineer and want to learn how to study in college, as I said previously you should set goals and you should have a big vision that you should work towards it like, "I want to join engineering faculty" or "I want to tell my kids that I went to engineering faculty" -but I am not married yet :)-, or any other visions from your choice.
